Open Campus Lunch

JCHS 8th-11th Parents and Guardians,

I met with our 8th - 11th grade students today to discuss Open Campus Lunch for the 2018 - 2019 school year. Let me first say that JCHS is not closing campus during high school lunches. We are, however, going to place grade, attendance, and behavioral requirements on the students as we move into the next school year. Our goals are to encourage students to perform successfully in the classroom, attend school on a regular basis, and make appropriate behavioral decisions.

The requirements to receive Open Campus privileges for the 2018-2019 school year include:

  • Passing or pass all classes at each midterm grade check.

  • No unexcused absences per each mid-term.

  • Two (2) or few tardies per each mid-term.

  • Receive no behavioral consequences per each mid-term.

Please note that grades received at the end of the 2018 Spring semester will have an impact on your child's Open Campus privileges at the start of the 18-19 school year. Behavior and attendance during the last half of the 4th quarter will also impact open campus privileges.

Attached, you will find a copy of the presentation I shared with the students today (January 4, 2018). This will provide you with a more detailed description of the above criteria and how often grades, attendance, and behavior will be checked. If you have further questions, please call the main office at 618.498.5521.
